What is Spiritualism
What is it all about?
It combines Philosophy, Science and Religion, and is founded on the belief of the continuous existence of the Human Soul after death and the ability to communicate with the Spirits of those who have passed to a higher life.
Spiritualism is a religion, and Brunswick Spiritualist Church is an affiliated member of The Spiritualist National Union
When did it begin?
The Spiritualist Philosophy has its origins in the dawn of human history. It gained popularity as a result of various 'manifestations' during the 19th Century.
Today, throughout the world, there are many Spiritualist Churches, groups and centres. There is a global body for the promotion and dissemination of knowledge about Spiritualism. This fosters links that join us on aspiring to live by the seven Principles of Spiritualism.
Who are Spiritualists?
They are ordinary people who look beyond their everyday lives. We are joined by our belief that there is so much more to know about our Spiritual being. There are so many unexplained events/things in our lives. Spiritualism helps us to discover more, and can show us new ways to go forwards.
What we believe?
Spiritualism is based on the Seven Principles. Every person is seen as an individual seeking to expand their own awareness and understanding of their role in life. We as Spiritualists endeavour to live our lives according to the Seven Principles, which are:
- The Fatherhood of God
- The Brotherhood of Man
- The communication of Spirit and the ministry of Angels
- The continuous existence of the Human Soul
- Personal Responsibility
- Compensation and retribution hereafter for all the good and evil deeds done on earth
- Eternal progress open to every Human Soul
